Goodness Nature

Animals always act according to their nature. Babies too.

Think of the pureness of their actions – of their living. To eat when they are hungry. To sleep when they are tired.

But when adults act this way – act without concern for others – we call them immoral. Why?

Knowledge of good and evil.

But don’t they act according to their nature too?

Yes. And yet it’s wrong.

How can we be good and pure when we know of good and evil?

Make goodness your nature.

Just as the dog eats and the baby sleeps, so should your goodness be.

It comes about on impulse, without thought.

Cultivate this goodness.
